LU BAN'S EXECUTIVE CHEF
DAVE J CRITCHLEY
LAUNCHES HIS FIRST COOK BOOK
This is not just a cook book.
Co-authored by Lu Ban director Mike Mounfield, and with foreword from Mark Prescott, the renowned former Head Chef of the world famous Le Gavroche in London, it is the culinary journey so far of the world’s first non-Chinese apprentice to Tianjin Chinese Master Chef, Master Zhengxi Wu.
Expect culture, history and amazing recipes inspired by the Tianjin region of China.
In Cherry Blossom, you can explore Dave and Mike’s experiences and see the delights of their research and tastings from China’s amazing Tianjin region. Similar to Liverpool in its architecture, port city and proud heritage, Tianjin is a place where food is the ultimate celebration of love, family and tradition.
Making the most of the freshest, local and seasonal ingredients, the cook book describes the culture of Chinese food and gives an insight into the creative thought behind each of his dishes, which they hope will inspire home cooks to try making.
“The food was absolutely incredible, like nothing I had ever tasted before. Nothing was gloopy or too salty or sweet - just expertly balanced……There’s so much emphasis on the health properties of food….Everything was prepared so simply, preserving as much of the nutritional value as possible, but was so delicious” Extracts from the cook book.
If you’ve met him before, you’ll know that Dave is a charismatic Liverpudlian with real passion for life, food and making a difference in his community as well as being the life and soul of the party.
